Meet Dr. Liz

Hi! I’m Liz Chichester (pronounced Ch-eye-chester). As a therapist, I feel incredibly lucky to help people move past obstacles and thrive for a living. I specialize in using attachment- and mindfulness-based therapy approaches to help my clients manage stress, anxiety, and relationships. I've completed advanced training in Emotionally Focused Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and rely heavily on these models in my work. I believe deeply in the importance of using scientifically developed treatments in therapy AND in the importance of being able to relax and relate to your therapist. My goal is to balance these needs in every session by tailoring treatments to where you are and providing them with warmth and compassion

When I'm not working, you can usually find me spending time with my husband and son, preferably by the water or trying a new restaurant...or BOTH if possible! My most fun fact is that I’m a certified scuba dive guide. I absolutely love living by the water and am happy to call Charleston home.

Meet Dr. Jess

Hi there! I’m Jess Kansky. My training has left me with a deep respect for this field and a strong drive to bring interventions that work to my clients. I’m energized by helping those who feel stuck – in life, in relationships, in careers – take steps forward to achieve meaningful goals. With so many decisions and possibilities, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by the “what-ifs” of life. I strive to create space for my clients to make sense of and move through their unique stuck points. Together, we make room to explore, gain clarity, and develop a plan of attack to chip away at the struggles. Therapy can be hard, but I'm focused on making sessions productive, welcoming, and sometimes even a little fun. It’s extremely rewarding to join clients at challenging times and witness their growth take shape as we tear down barriers and fuel progress together.

My love of this field started during my undergraduate training in Psychology at the University of Pennsylvania. I then spent three years deepening my expertise in relationship and family psychology as a researcher developing interventions for service members reintegrating into family life at the Center for the Study of Traumatic Stress in Washington, DC. Next, it was onto Charlottesville, Virginia where I completed my PhD in Clinical Psychology at The University of Virginia. There, I studied how earlier experiences with caregivers and mental health difficulties impact our adult relationships (especially romantic ones). After graduate school, my clinical internship at MUSC brought me to Charleston where I also completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Couples and Family therapy at the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center. I feel so lucky that my training brought me to Charleston, and can't imagine living anywhere else.
